If you know my blog – you know I’m a huge fan of activities that help develop kids’ curiosity and creativity. In fact, in a world where our culture and technology are changing so quickly – I think that those qualities are some of the most important traits we can help our children develop for tomorrow.

Today, I want to tell you about a resource that has become my new favourite go-to for inspiration for fun and engaging creative activities to do with my son, Onetime.

Read on to learn about the new book STEAM KIDS and to hear about a special deal that’s running for only 4 more days!

50 STEAM project book review

Amazon Affiliate links are used in this post for your convenience. Please read my disclosure for more details. I also received a free e-book copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

According to its authors, STEAM Kids is all about inspiring our next generation of inventors, innovators and leaders to:

question like a scientist | design like a technologist | build like an engineer
create like an artist | deduce like a mathematician
– and –
PLAY like a kid.

And these ladies know what they’re talking about. The book is written by a group of engineers, teachers, math nerds, art lovers and writers.

Together they have put together an incredible collection of 50+ fun and unique activities geared towards 4 to 10 year olds. There are even suggestions included to adapt the activities to older audiences.

STEAM KIDS Activities

The activities in STEAM KIDS are all hands-on and most use materials that you could easily find in your home or local hardware store.

Best of all – this book has been designed to be FUN! When I started scrolling through the pages of my copy the other day, my 5 year old son was enthralled.

“I want to do that Mom!” “No wait, let’s do that one!” “I changed my mind Mom. Can we do that this afternoon?”

Our only problem was trying to agree on which project to start first!

Mommy wanted to make the Craft Stick Catapult and Bedroom Planetarium (so cool!!!), while Onetime wanted to start mixing up Rainbow Reactions and a Bubble Tray (he always chooses the messiest projects!).

STEAM Kids Projects

The book is broken down into 5 chapters: Build, Color, Play, Sense, and Grow.  And each project has beautiful bright photos, a materials list, clear instructions, and extension ideas.

At the end of the book, you’ll find some handy dandy weekly activity planners with materials lists, along with activity sheets, STEAM journal pages, and lists of links to related enrichment activities on the web.

These ladies really thought of it all!
